The camel across the ages

Joselyn Miller (1963)

2019
Acrylic on canvas
105 x 78 cm
Layan Collection

Joselyn is an American artist who paints in flat style with bold color. Here compositions are playful and often including an unexpected element like the camel in the elevator. The title of the work gives an idea of what is happening, a casual scene, a man is waiting for the elevator and surely does not expect to see a camel there. The absurdity of the situation is there to make the viewer smile and move away from overly serious and academic vision of art.
